Using AI with the Business Rewrite Framework

Coming Soon!

This course teaches practitioners how to pair the Business Rewrite Framework with AI tools to accelerate rigorous, story-based business analysis. It is built for a mixed audience: newcomers gain the framing they need to apply the process from the start, while those already fluent in the framework learn where AI adds genuine leverage, and where it does not. The theme is simple: AI supplies speed, the analyst supplies authorship.

Module 1 - Objectives

Objectives: the Call to Action and Author Persona

Everything that follows depends on the brief you set here: the call to action and objective is the paragraph you will hand to every AI prompt in this course, and the persona decides what those prompts go looking for.

Module 2 · Gathering  Info

Information to Collect About Your Business

Themes rarely live where you expect them: the root cause of a customer-retention problem is just as likely to sit in your incentive structure as in your customer journey, so you gather across every element of the business model—even when the call to action seems to touch only one.

Module 3 · Interviews

Interview Questions and Response Analysis

The framework treats point of view as a first-class story element: the same task is described very differently by the executive who designed it, the manager who tracks it, and the front-line employee who performs it, and AI is unusually good at synthesizing across those views once you have them.

Module 4 · Backstory

Backstory: Settings, Plot, and Characters.

A backstory’s elements are shaped by path dependence: most change initiatives fail not because the destination is wrong, but because the backstory creates barriers the plan never accounted for.

Module 5 · Characters

Deeper into Characters.

They are the most complex element of the framework, and AI has a known bias here: it gives full treatment to founders and executives while treating products, technologies, and brands as background. Object characters often drive plot more than people do. Use prompts to steer AI toward the background elements.

Module 6 · Themes

Themes: The Analytical Heart

Themes are where the real work happens, and exactly where AI stays shallow unless pushed. The best analysis surfaces and integrates themes the business has never explicitly named.

Module 7 - Future Chapters

Future Chapters: Scenarios and Decisions

Writing Future Chapters is where you build scenarios, alternate futures with specific plot events and required character transformations, and stress-test them against the themes and risks the earlier stages surfaced. Honest assessment beats optimism.

Module 8 - Make it Real

Validating and Putting the Story to Work.

Three practices make the difference between a strategic exercise and a strategic decision: validate by triangulation, tell the story out loud, and translate themes into decisions with owners, horizons, and leading indicators.

Module 8 - Pitfalls

The Pitfalls of Using AI.

AI will work tirelessly and produce confident prose. It will also fabricate sources, smooth over the contradictions you needed to see, default to generic framing, and reinforce whatever bias you carried into the prompt. The framework is well-suited to surfacing those failures—but only if you watch for them deliberately.
